How to Pass the Time While Social Distancing

The spread of the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic across Pennsylvania has forced Governor Wolf to order a statewide shutdown. To many, this also means weeks of social distancing and working from home.

While most may have never experienced staying home for an extended period of time and are already anticipating getting “cabin fever,” we have a list of some home projects that you can get a jump start on now to help you pass the time.

Schedule Plumbing Maintenance and Repairs

If you’ve been putting off your minor plumbing repair or preventative maintenance services because it didn’t seem urgent to you, now is the time to take the plunge. We will remain open at The Plumbing Works and the health and safety of our team and customers are top priority. We take pride in our cleanliness and the safety precautions that we implement at every home visit.

Our team members wear booties and gloves, which not only protects your home, but also your health. They also carry hand sanitizer, which they use frequently. If any of our employees are not feeling well, they are kept home from work. Whether you’re looking for drain cleaning, plumbing installation or services, or AC installation, repair, and maintenance in anticipation of summer’s arrival, give us a call. We’d be happy to discuss the services we offer or you can view our full list here.

Add a Fresh Coat of Paint

Adding a fresh coat of paint to your home can be time consuming and a lot of work, but when you have extra time to spend at home, why not get it done now? Maybe you’ve been wanting to change up the color palate in your living room or bedroom or maybe your walls are showing their age with imperfections – whatever the reason may be, break out the paint brush and gallon of paint and get to work.

Once finished, your freshly painted rooms can be a mood booster and you’ll feel accomplished and motivated to tackle the next home project on your list.

Show Your Yard Some Attention

While it is recommended that you stay at your home whenever possible, that doesn’t mean that you are confined indoors. Get some fresh air and enjoy the warm weather in your own personal yard. Now is the time to give your space the attention it deserves and get it looking ready for the summer BBQ’s you’ll be hosting.

When prepping your yard for the summer, first clean it of all debris, leaves, twigs, and dead plants that have accumulated over the winter months. Trim any unruly trees or bushes and if you’d like, and if your lawn needs it, apply fertilizer and weed killer. It may also be the time to bring out the lawn mower and give your grass the first trim of the season. Make a plan of any mulch you will spread this season and flowers or trees you will plant. Getting outdoors will benefit both you and your lawn!
